Lucy goes around the world in 88 days: Day 85 & 86

Day 85: Saturday 20th September

Miss Hannaford is still unwell and since we had a late night last night going to see Don Giovanni, it was important that she stayed at the hotel and rested. It turned out to be a very good idea as there was a really bad lightening storm during the morning and heavy showers for the rest of the day!

Day 86: Sunday 21st September

Our last full day in Prague and the last full day of this amazing holiday!

Since Miss Hannaford was still feeling unwell- we decided to go slowly and visit the Petrin Tower on the other side of Prague. The Petrin Tower is on the top of a very steep hill opposite the castle. To get to the tower you can either walk up the hill for 30-40 minutes or you can catch the Funicular. The Funicular is a special train that climbs very steep hills using cables. The train itself is designed to be at an angle so the passengers don’t have to stand or sit at the steep angle. You do get fantastic views of Prague across the river when you are coming back down the hill!

The design of the Petrin Tower is based on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France but it is only 1/3 of the height. It is possible to climb the 313 steps to the top of the tower but since Miss Hannaford was not well enough to climb all those steps, we decided to admire the tower from the ground.

After visiting the tower, we decided to go on a tram ride up the other hill towards Prague Castle as Miss Hannaford wanted to get a picture of the symbol of the Czech Republic- the crowned Lion with 2 tails.
